Words fail me.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal: Editorials

Then to all students and faculty who did not share his political opinions, the principal shouted: "Shut your faces." What a wonderful lesson he gave those 3,000 students at the largest public high school in New Mexico. In his mind, only certain opinions are to be allowed.

As much as I disagree with this, there's a whole lot of precedence to back the principle of a high school in repressing the freedom of speech. For that matter, until they're of age, children routinely get thier rights violated. And there's not a teacher I know who expects good things from bucking the administration. In fact, most of them will flinch if you just mention the administration and opinions in the same sentence.

Now however, most people do expect universities and colleges to be one of the last bastions of free speech... Only it's not so anymore, at least in Atlanta, GA:

Even leaving aside the student aspect of it, should a teacher be fired for providing the skills for a student to express themselves? I think that precedent is rather scary...
