Enh, no big deal. I'll lay odds it's because they know Dubya better than anyone else, even his old man. At least for the under-40 crowd, anyway.
Most Americans are severely history-challenged, so it's no surprise they prefer a president with whom they are more familiar.
I'll bet an equivalent survey with Democrats would show a healthy Clinton lead over FDR. :)
Me, I've had the feeling (for a while now) that Dubya will end up as the next Lincoln, in the sense of contemporary abuse and insult compared to later historical respect; the "liberator of the MidEast," and all that.
I just wish that I had a time machine, could jump ahead 50 years, and bring back some of those history books, just to wave them in Barbera Boxer & Howard Dean's faces, and keen "neener, neener!"
But then, if the analogy holds, 80 years from now some erzatz wanna-be historian will say that Dubya was gay, too... Heh.
