New in-solar planet found!

No, not an insular planet, and certainly not an islandar planet; we don’t yet know what it’s made of. But, yes, there are 10 planets
orbiting our sun, Sol...

This planet is way out in the back of beyond, further out even than Pluto, and any remaining hippies. No word yet on when we have any plans to go visit it, or even what we’ll be calling it...

Sin of the times

Or perhaps a Co-sin? Well, whichever…

I was working on a paper yesterday, and needed to look up a certain statistic. I flipped through the class reader a couple times. Couldn’t find it. Finally I logged onto the school library’s website ran a search for the author, and pulled up the original paper—which turns out to have been in the reader all along...

I am starting to forget how to look stuff up without search features. I wonder if it should even be necessary? I mean, my time is valuable; there are other things I could be doing than trying to remember exactly who said what when. The simple fact is that I know it was said, and the computer can keep track of the rest. Alas, I cannot click Ctrl+F on the great keyboard of life and discover these things...

Worth the cost?

Let's us pretend that Iraq adopts a constitution not unlike that of Iran: candidates eligibility determined by election officials, Women regulated to second class status, religion being constitutionally fundamental law, etc. If this comes to pass, would the war have been worth it?

It is true that Saddam is a monster, and allowing his evil to dominate a State was an abomination. Yet if our worst fears of an Iranian-based Iraqi constitution come to pass, might we merely be setting the stage for another Saddam-like figure to arise? If that does come to pass, I have to wonder why our men and women are dying over there...

Up up and away!

Discovery is in orbit. About frickin’ time...

The space shuttle is old, and needs replacing. However, for the moment they are what we have. And space is important...

Here is a question for all you fine folks: How much would you pay in extra taxes each year to send a mission to Mars?

Testing, testing...

If you can see this, we’re back up and running. If you can’t see this, why are you reading it?

Update:
Now, if I can figure out how to get the archives back, we’re golden...

Worst books ever to become games!

Blockbuster Left Behind Series in Development as Real Time Strategy Computer Game

I so can’t wait to not play this game. I mean, we take a crappily written series, and make it into a game-- and we all know how well books/movies turn into games, right? This could be the single most hideous thing ever to land on my computer...

Why does Sandra day OConnor hate America?

Justice O'Connor Is Retiring. May the gods help us all. This will probably make he run up to the Iraq war look like a minor, petty issue. Come to think of it, that fact should tell us a lot about where America is as a nation. Nonetheless, these next few months of partisan wrangling should be nasty, brutish and long...
