Sleep.

So: everyone has had a night when they simply could not sleep. The next day we wake up, tired, groggy, unable to properly process all the stimulus that a human being encounters throughout a day. Imagine you're awake for longer than a single night. Your brain begins to break down. Wikipeida has a good summary on what happens. That's what we're doing to people we suspect of being terrorists.

It is 2008. This is the United States of America. We're debating torture. Thomas Jefferson is weeping...
